How will Cherokee affect you?
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will celebrate the arrival of the Spring season with the Rainbow and Ramps Restival at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds.
The annual event has marked the traditional fishing season and the start of the yearly ramp or mountain leak harvest. Tribal elders and their families will gather to eat, play games and listen to popular regional music. The public is invited and all are welcome.
The festival will feature a variety of local entertainment, including music by the Wiregrass Band and dancing by the J Creek Cloggers and the Warriors of Anikituhwa, as well as games such as bingo with prize offerings.
Admission to the event is free and meals can be purchased on site for $15. The menu includes local fried trout, ramps and other vegetables, as well as a drink and dessert. All individuals 59.5 years old eat for free.
