Rainbow and Ramps Festival

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will celebrate the arrival of the Spring season with the Rainbow and Ramps Restival at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds.

The annual event has marked the traditional fishing season and the start of the yearly ramp or mountain leak harvest. Tribal elders and their families will gather to eat, play games and listen to popular regional music. The public is invited and all are welcome.

The festival will feature a variety of local entertainment, including music by the Wiregrass Band and dancing by the J Creek Cloggers and the Warriors of Anikituhwa, as well as games such as bingo with prize offerings.

Admission to the event is free and meals can be purchased on site for $15. The menu includes local fried trout, ramps and other vegetables, as well as a drink and dessert. All individuals 59.5 years old eat for free.

The Cherokee Fly-Fishing Championship Series.

Four tournaments. Four chances to turn passion into profession.

Cherokee is hosting its first-ever fly-fishing tournament series, with competition that’s not only strong—it's limited to just 40 anglers. Dubbed the Cherokee Fly-Fishing Championship Series, it consists of four two-day tournaments culminating in a championship finale in 2020. You’ll be fishing various locations across the coveted Tribal Enterprise Waters, competing within the 2.2 miles set aside for trophy fly-fishing.

Anglers will be trying to land not just the biggest trout, but cash prizes, fishing gear, and an annual EBCI fishing permit (one per tournament). The top 24 advance to the championship finale in April 2020 for a chance to win $3,000.

Registration is required and limited to the first 40 anglers. Special EBCI fly-fishing permits (valued at $25 each) will be provided by Cherokee Fisheries & Wildlife Management. Daily Tribal fishing permits are required, and will be available for purchase. The daily cost is $10 for everyone 12 and older. Fishing permits are available throughout Cherokee, NC and can be purchased online at FishCherokee.com. Anglers of all ages and styles are welcome. EBCI fishing laws apply.

Tribal Enterprise Waters are open to fishing from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset each day.

We’ve gathered 25 retail vendors to compete for your eye (and your purse or wallet) with their very best handcrafted jewelry, cookware, clothes, books, purses, sweets, skin products, and so much more. You’ll find name brands such as Mary Kay, 31, Paparazzi, Pampered Chef, and an assortment of local Cherokee crafters. To nab the best stuff, you’ll have to be light on your feet, bring a shrewd eye, and sharpen all your skills for sniffing out a deal or a great value. And to ensure you keep your energy up during all that shopping, we’ll have local food vendors available in Concession. Free to the public.

Hope for Cherokee Evangelistic Meet

Wednesday, March 25 from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm

Join us in fellowship and celebration.

This free event takes place over four evenings and includes prayer, community, and rejoicing led by evangelist Randy Bane. Each evening will begin with an opening prayer, followed by powerful gospel singing. The evening concludes with Randy sharing the word of God, in the company of local Cherokee people and fellow believers. This event is free for all who wish to attend.
