Confluence: An Indigenous Writers’ Workshop

September 20 - September 21

img 0150 min

Created in partnership with Annette Saunooke Clapsaddle (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians), author of the award-winning novel Even As We Breathe, this series of workshops offers enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) and other federally recognized tribes access to high-quality writing instruction from the world’s top Indigenous writers at no cost. Workshops are open to the public if space is available.

Visiting writers (to be announced) with expertise in different genres will lead two days of close instruction, creative exercises, and group discussion. Workshops are open to high school students and adults, recognizing that younger generations need to see role models in their own community in order to extend the continuum. Just as the Qualla Boundary’s mountain streams meet and strengthen, Saunooke and Museum staff hope that the workshops will be a confluence of ideas and inspiration for all writers involved. When registration is live, participants may register at motcp.org. Space is limited. Registration opening date TBA.
