Saturday, September 2 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Between the broncos that will be busted, the bulls that will be bucking, and the rodeo clowns looking to avoid getting stomped in the head, there will be all sorts of skills competitions and top-name riders in this SRA-sanctioned event. Gates open at 6 nightly, with the rodeo starting at 8.

General admission tickets for both nights can be purchased with cash at Alan’s Jewelry & Pawn (Cherokee and Asheville locations). General adult admission (ages 12 and up) are $13 in advance or $15 at the gate. Children's (ages 4-12) tickets can be purchased for $8 in advance or $10 at the gate. Kids 3 and under admitted free! Cash only.

Cruise the Smokies Fall Rod Run

Friday, October 20 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Enjoy a vintage car show at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds featuring hundreds of restored and enhanced vintage cars. Chat with their owners to get each car’s unique history, enjoy pristine paint jobs, and have your fill of polished chrome. This show will have food, memorabilia, and automobile parts vendors and will be hosted with music by a professional DJ for lots of old-fashioned fun. Admission is $5 per person and free for children 10 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at the event.

Imagine you’re gathered around a roaring bonfire, the occasional spark shooting high into the night sky, as a strong but gentle voice begins a story you’ve never heard. As the drama builds, you’re nearly breathless, your own heartbeat matching the occasional beat of the hand drum the storyteller uses. Drawing from a rich oral tradition dating back millennia, the Cherokee Bonfire series runs throughout the tourism season, and is an enchanting way to interact with the rich details of the Cherokee people and their stories. Get your room reserved in Cherokee, grab a blanket and someone close to you, and enjoy a cultural experience only Cherokee can offer.

Cherokee Zombie Run

Saturday, October 28 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Will you survive the zombie apocalypse? If you’re going to try, you’d better run fast! Each runner will start the race with two flags. Finish the race with at least one flag left and you have survived! The fastest male and female runner to cross the finish line with a flag will win a prize! First 75 racers to register will get a T-shirt and swag bag full of coupons and other items.

Don’t want to run but still want to join in the fun? Here is your chance to dress up like a zombie and become a member of our zombie horde, who will chase the runners and try to steal flags (less messy than eating brains)!

Stay after the race to enjoy raffles, a zombie costume contest, and more!

Rumble in the Rhododendron Fly Fishing Tournament

Saturday, November 4 to Sunday, November 5

Are you and your best fly-fishing buddy ready to rumble with the top anglers around? Then get your $225 entry fee together for this two-person team competition held exclusively in the catch-and-release section of Cherokee’s “trophy waters” known simply as Raven Fork. This tournament offers a payout* totaling $10,000 for the top teams. To enter this tournament you must first acquire a Cherokee fishing permit (a list of permit-selling locations may be found at FishCherokee.com), then register for the event by phone or in person wherever fishing permits are sold. Prize money will be distributed at the Beetle Stage next to the Cherokee Welcome Center. Your entry fee also includes lunch and dinner. Open to all ages.

Turkey Strut 5K Walk/Run

Saturday, November 18 from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm

Get ready for Turkey Day with a 5K. This year, the event will benefit the Cherokee Braves Booster Club, a community organization that supports all athletes of Cherokee Central Schools by organizing team and school events, coordinating athletic programs, and raising monies to support our local athletes. On-site registration will be available from 10:30–11:30 a.m. Or pre-register online at runsignup.com. The race begins at noon.

$15 for adults before November 12, and $20 after November 12 
$5 for adults ages 59 and up
$5 for kids ages 12 and younger


Brothers in the Wind Toy Run

Saturday, November 25 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

All proceeds from this annual motorcycle ride go to children and families in need. Following the ride will be music, drinks, and food at the Fair Grounds. There will also be chances to win door prizes and 50/50 tickets. The requested donation is $20 per rider or $30 per couple. Tickets can be purchased at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds entrance. Please park at the front entrance to the Fair Grounds. Ride route will be determined just prior to the event, depending on the weather. Signup begins at 10:30 a.m. and riders depart at noon.


Christmas Parade 2017

Saturday, December 9 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Experience the many sights and sounds of festive holiday entertainment between the Cherokee Bear Zoo and the Museum of the Cherokee Indian at Cherokee’s annual Christmas Parade. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs, as well as bags for the candy thrown from passing floats. All parking along the parade path and surrounding areas will cease 15 minutes prior to the parade and roads will not open again until the conclusion of parade festivities. Please come early before roads close at 1:45 p.m.
